I had a request this week to update my blog…let me just say for those of you who know me and my madcap family of seven (that would be five children under seven and two well-loved but weary parents), the summer has been spent with the kids. Not so much with the shooting. I’ve had a few opportunities while the kids were in Camps in July, but for the most part, it’s been all kids all the time since the first of August. Hopefully when school starts back up, I’ll get back into really doing photography for more than just sport.
Anyway, all this is to say I’ve been remiss in updating. So, Cate, these are for you.
Sandwiched between the world’s hottest week (last) and what’s shaping up to be the wettest week of the summer (this), was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Beautiful weather for the wedding between two great people. Thanks for letting us share!
I’ve been so busy with all of the kids at home that I haven’t posted any of the several hundreds of pictures that I’ve taken lately. I hope to fix that this week, but in the meantime, here’s one or two of my own kids.
We had to reschedule this session twice, but three’s a charm for these beautiful kids with the amazingly blue eyes. They were so nice and happy, and even looked at the camera without too much coaxing required. We played on the swings, and in the back yard, and had a really nice beginning to the holiday weekend. Thanks for letting me share!
An evening shoot downtown, one of my favorite places to shoot. Awesome light, fun family, energetic boys, and Countess LuAnne. OK, maybe not her, but at least a namesake. (That’s the dog, by the way.) Thanks for letting me invade your home on a weekday. More to come, but these are some good ones so far!
How great to live by the water if you are an adventurous little boy? These two just moved from the city to a house right by the water, and by the looks of things are settling in just fine in their new area. Showed me all around the neighborhood, which included a jaunt down to a pier around the corner from their house.
From the second I got out of the car, this little hero was the sweetest thing I’ve ever met. After a big hug on arrival, he then proceeded to tell me stories about Little Einsteins, show me his hamster (Hammy, appropriately enough), conduct a hotly-contested race between several matchbox cars and some Cars cars, and throw me the football. You’d never know it to look at him but he’s a cancer survivor at the tender age of almost 4. Dad’s a Marine, mom works at the Pentagon, but the biggest hero in this family is clearly Christian.
For those of you who know Jolie, or “the Jooj” as she is so affectionately known here, you know that she is rarely without a hat. She sleeps in them, she eats in them, she will sit all day in school in them, she does pretty much everything in them. So today, when it’s like pea soup outside and she’s wearing a winter knit Hello, Kitty! hat out and about, I took pity on her and we found a new hat. I imagine it will be her chapeau of choice for the coming spring, and hopefully, summer months. So, in keeping with a new thing my photog friend Gail is starting (great minds think alike, since I was doing this for myself today anyway), here are a few shots of The Jooj in her new hat…and the first of my edition of “For Me Fridays” (thanks Gail).
Special thanks to the K family for coming and hanging out with us yesterday! We had a great time and I’m pretty sure that if we said it was ok, my kids would have had them stay all day and play on the swing set. (It was a big hit!)
I love photographing this little girl. She’s such an old soul, and typically has at least one profound thing to say during a session. She had several ideas during this session too. I hope you all had fun at the Festival (I saw a later photo with a painted face, so I’m assuming you did!!)
